ScreamFree Parenting: Raising Your Kids by Keeping Your Cool” by Hal E. Runkel

A revolutionary book on parenting that will challenge you tremendously, but will empower you to be the parent you need to be.  Get ready to change your views on parenting!

Hurt: Inside the World of Today’s Teenagers” by Chap Clark

A must read for anyone who has a heart for adolescents!  Be prepared to be blown away by what you discover.  Before you dismiss his arguments about abandonment, read through the book with an open mind.

Anything by John Rosemond

John Rosemond has a very practical, no-nonsense, old-fashioned approach to parenting that is very refreshing and real.  I think very highly of him and his work.

Anything by James Dobson

James Dobson has been writing quality books for decades and has earned the right to have the ear of the American people.  His Christian perspective and keen understanding of people give his work a level of authority seldom achieved in today’s culture.

Protecting His Workmanship: Teaching Your Child God’s Design For Sexual Purity” by Jeff & Pam Koehlinger

This excellent resource was written by Christian parents who were committed to preparing their children for the world of dating, sexuality, and marriage, but were disappointed with the lack of a good resource.  They developed this workbook as both a Bible study and a conversation guide to equip parents with the confidence to have healthy, intentional, Godly discussions with their children in these areas that parents MUST discuss with their children.

Tune In Before You Turn It Off” by Roger D. Butner

OK, it’s not a book, it’s a handout I used to lead a discussion with a group of youth ministers in how to engage their kids through the kids’ media choices.  I think it is an equally helpful resource for parents.
